As two elementary school students, we were out to dinner when a man at a neighboring table began experiencing cardiac arrest. Our father, who was a physician at our local hospital, called 911 and began performing CPR. That man survived until the ambulance arrived. Although we were young, we understood the particular skill that our father had that helped save a life that day. We began wondering why more people didn't have that life-saving skill. As soon as we could, we got ourselves certified in Basic Life Support started our journey of trying to teach CPR to as many people as possible.
In March of 2020, we completed our pilot project at the Great Valley High School. One hundred percent of the student body was trained in hands-only CPR.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from continuing our in-person Basic Life Support training, we decided to pivet into creating our very own Brilliant Life Support certification which is obtainable online.
With the worst of the pandemic behind us, Brilliant Life Support is excited to continue our efforts in teaching the youth basic life-saving skills.
Brilliant Life Support is a nonprofit organization which will provide CPR competency to any High School student that wants to learn this valuable skill. Eventually, we will be partnering with local businesses to expand the curriculum to any or all of those who are interested.
We have partnered with the Chester County Department of Emergency Medical Services to provide this training at low cost to the school districts and students.
